Roy was asked in January 2010  by the editors of Wilson Living Magazine to write a “Guest Article” on how he and his wife ended up living in Wilson County TN   (”A Caregiver’s Blind Date” listed first below). After the article was submitted, Roy was then asked to become a regular feature writer preparing   an “Inspiration Article” for future issues. Those articles appear below as well. “GREAT DAY AT EAST NASHVILLE”
Enjoyed a great day at East Nashville FWB Church in Nashville, TN on Sunday, August 22nd. Roy spoke during the Sunday School hour on "Helping and Encouraging Caregivers." He also spoke during the morning worship service on "How to make it through the Caregiving, Dying and Grieving process" and "How to Recover" and move on with your life. Sunday evening service focused on "The Role of Church, Family and Friends" in helping caregivers and those who are grieving. This was followed by a Q & A session. Roy also did a book signing at the close of the morning and evening services.
Southwest Airlines Interview
Roy was informed this week that the interview he did about his heart attack and God's miracle has become the NUMBER 1 listened to interview of all time. It was reintroduced on Southwest Airlines National Radio on July 22, 2010. Camp Stewardship Campaign
Cumberland Youth Camp (61 TN churches) asked Roy to design a Capital Stewardship Campaign to help raise finances to build a new Retreat & Conference Center. First Steering Committee training session took place in mid-June and the campaign is up and running. Roy will serve as "Campaign Advisor" for the 24 month Campaign.
Day of Prayer
Roy was the guest speaker at a city-wide Day of Prayer Breakfast at Johnston City, Ill on Thursday morning May 6, 2010. The day of prayer included city officials, the local minister's alliance and the surrounding community. The day also included a "Caring for the Caregiver" workshop at First Free Will Baptist Church that evening. People from a number of denomiations with a variety of needs were present at both.
Book Reaching Many
"Caring For The Caregiver", Roy's new book is having great initial success. The book has made Tower Books top 100 Caregiver bestsellers list climbing to number 14. Out of 2732 medical book offerings on Buzzillions.com the book has risen to number 86. Of the 1,608 Caregiving books on line at Barnes & Noble, the book has climbed into the top 100 list reaching the 64th position in copies sold. The book has also climbed to 161st out of 455 books on Caregiving on Books-A-Million and 130th out of 667 on Amazon.com. Amazing since it was only released nationally in December 2009.
